There are indications that the Police authorities are not taking lightly the threat by the Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram to bomb some unknown areas during the Eld El Kabir celebrations in some parts of the country as the Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim has ordered the deployment of the Deputy Inspectors General of Police from Force headquarters, to the zones.

The DIGs are to be on ground to oversee security measures being put in place to guard against terrorist attacks or any embarrassing situation that would give the country bad image during the Sallah celebrations.

In this regard, Ringim’s second in command, DIG Ivy Okoronkwo, is deployed to the South East Zone, DIG Administration, Azubuko Udah is to proceed to the North Central Zone comprising, Abuja, Kogi, Nassarawa and Plateau States, just as Sardauna Abubakar (Training) is to take charge of the North West Zone.

Others are DIG Ganiyu Daudu (Force Criminal Investigations Department) – South West Zone; DIG Mohammed Yesufu, (Research) – South-South Zone, DIG Saleh Abubakar (Works) – North East Zone while the DIG Operations will coordinate from Abuja.

Saturday Vanguard gathered that the DIGs will work in synergy with the Zonal AIG’s and Command CP’s to achieve results.

The same strategy was employed by the IGP during the April general elections in the country which worked succesfully.

Also, all Zonal Assistant Inspectors Generals of Police and Commissioners of Police in States Commands have been mandated to effectively deploy men of the Anti-terrorist and Anti-bomb Squads, particularly to the areas that have been identified as black spots.
