The people of Ogwashi-Uku in Oshimili North Local Government of Delta State have sent a petition to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, asking him to reconsider his decision to re-appoint Prof. Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyega as the rector of Delta State Polytechnic, located in their domain.

Rising from a meeting in Ogwashi-Uku, the leading lights of the community, under the aegis of Ogwashi-Uku Development Union (ODU), said it was opposed to the idea of reappointing the out-going rector whom they alleged did not handle the affairs of the institution well in his first four years in office.

In the letter to Uduaghan, ODU said, “As a matter of fact, we want the state government to investigate the employment policy of Prof. Egwunyenga who marginalized the host community while the surrounding communities were heavily favoured in employment”.

The President General of ODU, Sir. P.O. Ajiduah, said the community was compelled to cry out against the former rector because of the undercurrent political manouvres that have been introduced to pull the wool over the eye of the state governor.
