No court can stop PPN – Daniel
ABEOKUTA – GOVERNOR Olugbenga Daniel of Ogun State yesterday continued with his combative political stance declaring that no court in the country can prevent the candidate of the Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, Mr. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka from contesting the forthcoming polls.
Moreover, he declared that the next government in the state would be formed by the PPN which he said would be the party to beat in the forthcoming polls.
Addressing supporters during his campaign tour of Sagamu, Governor Daniel said “Let me seize this opportunity to debunk the rumours that are going out there: I repeat all PPN candidates have passed the INEC test and all of them are contesting elections. I am aware that opposition parties are going to villages to confuse our people, I plead with you do not listen to them because all PPN candidates are already contesting.
“I am also told that they have gone to somebody called Kafarati again trying to do what they know best how to do which is mischief. Let me tell you that there is no court that can remove the name of any candidate that INEC has published.
Once INEC publishes a name, there is no court. You would have been hearing all manner of rumours. One of the rumours that we are hearing is that that new party, which is giving them headache has not been registered.
“ Let me tell you that this is nothing short of rumour and deliberate falsehood. It is indeed true that the PPN may be the newest party in Ogun State, but everybody agrees that today the PPN is a party to beat in Ogun State. I think it is for this reason that out of the so many parties – at the last count we have about 64 parties in Nigeria – what is their problem with PPN? I think that their problem with PPN is that they have seen defeat and that by the special grace of God, the PPN is going to form the next government in Ogun State.
“This is a ticket that is addressing all manners of marginalization in Ogun State. With Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Jokotade Odunuga Odebunmi, you will understand that our women in the last eight years; my Deputy Governor has been a woman and in continuing with that tradition, we are happy that this ticket will continue to give the relevance that our women deserves in our body politics.
“I am quite surprised that people who keep talking about 35 percent for women; when it was time for them to choose a deputy governor, they could not find one single woman in this Ogun State to be the deputy governor.
“Sagamu-Ogijo-Ikorodu; this road is a Federal Government road but in the last eight years; our state-owned OGROMA has tried to do this road without being allowed. On two different occasions when OGROMA mobilised, some contractors came and said they have been awarded the contract; in fact they took OGROMA to court for trying to repair the road.
