Tribunal upholds Adamu’s election

Senator Abdullahi Adamu representing Nasarawa West senatorial district, Nasarawa State has again won at the National Assembly election tribunal sitting in Lafia. Delivering judgement on the matter brought before it by General Abdullah Ibrahim Aboki (retd) of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), against senator Abdullahi Adamu of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Tribunal Chairman, Justice Steven Okon said the petition was wrongly filed and that it was not in conform with section 18 (1) of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended and accordingly dismissed the petition. In a related development, the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital has dismissed a petition filed by the former member, House of Representative representing Nasarawa/Toro Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Samuel Azamu Egya against, the Musa Baba Onwanna of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) for failure to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt.

In a related development, the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital has dismissed a petition filed by the former member, House of Representative representing Nasarawa/Toro Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Samuel Azamu Egya against, the Musa Baba Onwanna of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) for failure to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt.

Tribunal chairman, Justice Steven Okon while delivering judgement that lasted six hours said, the petitioner has failed to prove his case of irregularities, snatching of ballot papers/boxes and electoral malpractices beyond reasonable doubt and accordingly dismissed the petition.

The tribunal chairman further explained that all the witnesses called by the petitioner could not prove that there were malpractices during the April 9 National Assembly election in Nasarawa/Toro Federal Constituency and that the petition lacked merit and therefore dismissed it accordingly.
