IN its quest to fulfil its corporate social responsibility to its host community, First Bank of Nigeria Plc (FirstBank) has partnered Zamarr Institute, an Abuja based school for Children with Autism and other chronic disabilities to celebrate the institute’s five years anniversary, and also raise funds for the building of its N250m proposed permanent site in Abuja. The event, an admixture of glamour and emotion witnessed talented children with various degree of Autism
The guest of honour and wife of Nigeria’s Vice President, Hajia Fatimah Sambo, represented by Mrs. Oluyemisi Akinwumi, wife of the minister of Agriculture and water Resources, in her opening speech, thanked Oluronke Katagum, founder and CEO of the institute for her rare enthusiasm and love for the disabled.
Mrs. Sambo said Katagum advocacy for Autism children has enlightened Nigerians on best ways to handle children with Autism, stressing that building a befitting permanent site for the children is a noble cause worthy of every bodies contribution, as this will give hope to parents and children with Autism . She thanked FirstBank for their support and charged other corporate bodies to emulate this gesture in their corporate social responsibility initiatives.
CBN governor, Lamido Sanusi, Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Saudatu Bungudono and other dignitaries who graced the event, in their speeches eulogized Katagum for her deep emotions for indigent children, much more those with Autism which is excruciatingly challenging to manage.
The Zamarr Institute provides services for early intervention to children who at birth and before school age, are suspected to have developmental disabilities.
